There are signs
Dividing in
That I couldn't abide
I wouldn't miss it again
Burning every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
I had true love
But made it die
Pushed out of the way
She said please stay
Burning every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
To find some beautiful place to get lost
I don't know where I'll go now
And I don't really care who follows me there
But ill burn every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
To find some beautiful place to get lost

- elliott smith, "beautiful place to get lost"

They say that God makes problems
just to see what you can stand
before you do as the devil pleases
and give up the thing you love

but no one deserves it.

-elliott smith, "pitseleh"

** So-So
*** Pretty Good
**** Really Great
***** AWESOME WOW

July 08

1.) Candy Girl -by- Diablo Cody ***
Love her writing style. Felt like reading a letter from a friend. Still haven't seen Juno and this memoir about Cody's unlikely year-long stripping career has made me want to see it even more. That's saying a lot considering I've wanted to see this film since I saw the first ad for it, convinced it would be an instant favorite.
I can't wait for her to write more!!!

August 08

2.) Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: Second Summer -by- Ann Brashares ***
Feel-good sequel and not so guilty pleasure. These books may be kind of light and predictable but the still manage to dig a little deeper here and there. Looking forward to the reading the 3rd and 4th!
3.) The Pact -by- Jodi Picoult ***
This is the second Picoult book I have read, the first being My Sister's Keeper. She has a distinct style which I really enjoy. Both books were page turners for me. I really enjoyed The Pact.
4.) The Book Thief -by- Markus Zusak *****.
LOVED THIS BOOK! I highly recommend! I sobbed through the last 50 pages, no lie....Just read it...
5.)Girls in Pants -by- Ann Brashares ****
3rd book in the traveling pants series. The girls have graduated and are about to go off to college. My feelings on this series remain the same as they were after reading the first and second books.
I cried a lot at the end of this one. I really loved it.
6.)I Am The Messenger -by- Markus Zusak ****
Zusak has a great style. I'm hooked. If you love a good story about ordinary people doing the extraordinary you must read this. Meanwhile...I can't wait till Zusak writes another!!!
7.) Pretty Little Dirty -by- Amanda Boyden **
Awful. The only reason I gave this book two stars is because I liked Boyden's writing style but the story was a bore.
8.) Under A Different Sky -by- Deborah Savage *****
I read this when I was 15 and it was brand new at the library. It was a fave and I checked it out often. It was a joy to re-read. I recommend it though it may not touch you the same way it did me.

SEPTEMBER 08

9.) Norwegian Wood -by- Haruki Murakami ****
Like a Japanese Catcher in the Rye...Beautiful, simple story of grief and love.
10.) Plain Truth -by- Jodi Picoult ***
Pretty much like other novels I've read by Picoult. Reads like a Life Time Original Movie...
A guilty pleasure I suppose...
11.) Yakuza Moon -by- Shoko Tendo *
Disappointing. Felt like she was rushing through the story. Quit with 40 pages left.
12.)After Dark -by- Haruki Murakami ***
Beautiful and ephemeral. I enjoyed this book a lot but it lacked a concrete point. It's all feelings and images. One really has to be in the mood or a book like this. I feel it's safe to say I'm a Murakami fan.
13.)Extras -by- Scott Westerfeld ***
4th in the "Uglies trilogy". Much like the first 3. If you liked those you'll like Extras.

OCTOBER 2008

14.)Pigs in Heaven -by- Barabara Kingsolver ***
Really good :) A follow-up to The Bean Trees yet not described as such.
I love Kingsolver <3 my favorite being The Poisonwood Bible
15.)Saving Fish From Drowning -by- Amy Tan ***
